Mercenarii (Freelancerii)

Freelancer-ul este acea specie de lucător atipic, care munceşte în mod independent de pe fotoliu sau patul său de acasă, alături de copii sau de nevastă, în colaborare cu un site (blog) sau cu o firmă specializată în cumpărarea ori comercializarea unor articole de nişă pe internet, scrise de acesta, la comandă, de cele mai multe ori.

Dacă termenul apare în romanul Ivanhoe a lui Walter Scot prin anul 1800, desemnând un războinic mercenar, în 1903 lingvişti englezi îl recunosc ca verb, apărând în Oxford English Dictionary, apoi in limbajul IT, desemnând o personă sau mai multe, care lucrează pe cont propriu. Sfera prin care se învârt aceşti mercenari de profesie este pe cât de selectă (servicii de otimizare pentru motoarele de căutare, copywriting sau content writing, design grafic, progamare în diferite limbaje, producţie şi editare video, consultanţă ori planuri de afaceri) pe atât prozaică pentru oamenii de rând, în opinia cărora lucratul pământului, de pildă, este o îndeletnicire mai eficientă decăt lupta cu  stihiile internetului.

Departe de a fi un ins mediocru,  frelancer-ul este un leneş incorigibil, un însingurat, un egoist lamentabil, prins în propria pânză de păiajen, care consideră munca, fizică sau intelectuală, după caz, un apanaj al maşinii ori al calculatorului, omul situându-se deasupra acestor lucuri prozaice.

Păsăreasca folosită în relaţiile sale cu ceilalţi, de genul web, cyberspaţiu, faq, fddi, download, fqdn, http, folder, relay, gif, host, ip, isdn, jpg, link etc, nu are darul să-l reapropie de oameni, de prietenii de altădată, care, cel mai adesea, îl privesc perplecşi, atribuindu-i, mental, desigur, epitete deloc ispititoare, lăsându-l, în cele din urmă, în plata Domnului.

Orice s-ar zice, frelancer-ul rămâne un mercenar detestabil pe câmpiile buruienoase ale literaturii, unde fie nu a încăput, fie nu şi-a găsit locul. Într-o lume abstractă, cu prieteni şi adversari abstracţi, cu cifre şi imagini abstracte, cu logaritmi şi matematici complicate, cu aplicaţii abstracte, de neînţeles, freelacer-ul întruchipează expresia inconfundabilă a visătorului Don Quijote în luptă cu morile de vânt, necucerite încă de nimeni.
